Preview

The Arizona Diamondbacks welcome the Minnesota Twins to Chase Field on Saturday, June 20, 2026, for a 10:10 PM ET first pitch. Zac Gallen gets the ball for Arizona against Minnesota's Taj Bradley in what shapes up as a compelling pitching duel under the roof in downtown Phoenix. With the Diamondbacks looking to stack wins at home, this is exactly the kind of game where Gallen's command and competitive fire need to be on full display from the jump.

Starting Pitchers: Gallen vs. Bradley

Zac Gallen is the unquestioned anchor of this rotation, and there's no pitcher Arizona fans would rather see in a big home game. The right-hander has built his reputation on precision — attacking hitters with a deep arsenal and keeping the ball on the ground when he needs to. He'll need to be sharp against a Minnesota lineup that can grind at-bats and make pitchers work deep into counts.

Taj Bradley is no easy out on the mound, either. The young Minnesota starter has the stuff to keep an Arizona offense quiet if he's locating his fastball and mixing his off-speed pitches effectively. The D-backs will need patience at the plate and a willingness to work counts early to knock Bradley off his rhythm.

Keys to Watch for Arizona

  • Ketel Marte setting the table: Marte leading off is a genuine weapon. If he gets on base consistently against Bradley, he forces the Twins into uncomfortable territory early and puts pressure on the top of the order to drive him in.
  • Corbin Carroll's at-bats: Hitting third, Carroll needs to be a threat that Bradley can't simply pitch around. The young outfielder has the speed and bat to change a game quickly — watch how Bradley approaches him with runners on base.
  • Nolan Arenado in the six-hole: Arenado brings veteran presence and power to the middle of this lineup. Bradley will want to limit damage from the three and four hitters, but Arenado hitting sixth gives Arizona a legitimate threat deeper in the order.
  • Gallen limiting Buxton: Byron Buxton hitting second for Minnesota is the matchup to watch. When Buxton is healthy and locked in, he can take over a game in a hurry. Gallen needs to keep him off the bases and out of rhythm.

Prediction

This has the feel of a low-scoring, tightly contested game — exactly the kind Gallen is built for. If he can neutralize Buxton and keep the Twins' lineup from stringing together a big inning, Arizona has enough offense top to bottom, particularly with Marte, Carroll, and Arenado in the lineup, to scratch out the runs they need. Chase Field gives the D-backs the home edge, and Gallen on the mound makes them the team to beat on Saturday night. Arizona wins, 3-1.
