Preview
The Arizona Diamondbacks return to Chase Field on Sunday, June 21 to host the Minnesota Twins in a 3:15 PM ET first pitch. Arizona will hand the ball to right-hander Jose Cabrera, who draws the start opposite Minnesota's Mike Paredes in what shapes up as a development-focused pitching matchup. With both arms still carving out their big-league footing, the offense on both sides could end up doing the heavy lifting. For the D-backs, that means leaning on a lineup loaded with familiar names — and watching how a few younger pieces respond to the moment.
Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Minnesota Twins: Starting Pitchers
Jose Cabrera takes the mound for Arizona in a start that carries real stakes regardless of the calendar. Cabrera has been working to establish himself as a reliable arm in the organization's rotation picture, and a clean outing against a disciplined Twins lineup would go a long way toward building that case. Minnesota counters with Mike Paredes, another young arm trying to make a name for himself at the highest level. Neither pitcher has a lengthy track record to lean on, which means both bullpens should be on alert early.

Keys to Watch for Arizona
Corbin Carroll in the Middle of the Order
Hitting third, Carroll is Arizona's most dangerous offensive weapon and the player opposing pitchers least want to see with runners on base. If Marte and Perdomo can get on ahead of him, Carroll has the power and plate discipline to do real damage against a pitcher like Paredes who is still proving himself at this level.
Nolan Arenado Adds Veteran Presence
The addition of Arenado to the six-hole brings Gold Glove defense at the hot corner and a bat that punishes mistakes. Arenado has seen everything, and he gives this lineup a second genuine threat in the bottom half that opponents cannot simply pitch around.
Jorge Barrosa and Tommy Troy at the Bottom
The eight and nine spots feature Barrosa and Troy, two younger players using every plate appearance to make their case. How they handle Paredes early in the game could set the tone for lineup turnovers and keep pressure on Minnesota's pitcher deep into counts.
Minnesota's Dangerous Middle
The Twins are not rolling over. Royce Lewis hitting cleanup brings legitimate power, and Byron Buxton in the two-hole is a name that commands respect even in a lineup that leans younger elsewhere. Cabrera will need to locate well and avoid leaving pitches in the zone against those two in particular.
Prediction: Diamondbacks Win 5-3
Chase Field gives Arizona a real edge on a June afternoon, and the D-backs lineup top to bottom is simply more proven than what Minnesota is putting on the field Sunday. Cabrera does enough to get through five innings, the bullpen closes it out, and Carroll does something memorable in the middle of the game. Arizona takes this one at home.
